Glasgow Royal Infirmary – Stone Façade Repairs to Main and Old Building 2008 - 2014
Due to an incident where masonry fell into the courtyard of the old Glasgow Royal Hospital the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde health board instructed a full feasibility study through Alterego to ascertain firstly the requirement for emergency works and secondly to develop a plan which could be strategically managed to carry out essential repairs over a number of years.
Alterego developed a firm management strategy with appointed design teams and successfully co-ordinated contractors on this major project over a period of 6 years with a budget of £5 Million.
The process involved the design of heavy scaffold to enable the works to be carried out safely and efficiently. Inclement weather was problematic at times. Traffic management, stakeholder management and public management was essential at all times and effective only through productive communication and coordination.
